susan pui san lok, Songs VI, 2017, audio, 7’25”
Songs VI is part of an ongoing series of soundworks. Songs I – VI (2005-2017) range from a few seconds to a few minutes, in which instances of the lyric ‘golden’ collide to produce condensed audio interludes, at turns joyful, plaintive, and wistful.
Songs VI was created for the Diaspora Pavilion, Venice, 2017, based on fifty tracks nominated by fellow artists and curators. Thanks to: Larry Achiampong, Kat Anderson, Barby Asante, Chi Bagtas, David A. Songs VI is exhibited with other works from the ongoing project Golden – another audio piece, Golden Hour, 2006, and two site-specific installations, Untitled (Pavilion) and Untitled (Shower), 2017. Diaspora Pavilion is at Palazzo Pisani Santa Marina, Venice, from 13 May to 26 November 2017, presented by ICF (International Curators’ Forum) and UAL (University of the Arts London).
